Covid-19 situation continues on its downward spiral in Tamil Nadu

In Tamil Nadu, Covid-19 situation continues on its downward spiral with the active caseload declining to less than 25-thousand. In the last 24-hours, the new infections are recorded to be 2652 people, including 756 in Chennai. AIR correspondent reports that, most districts in Tamil Nadu have reported more number of recoveries from Covid-19 than the new cases.<br />'' <br />''The state health minister Dr C Vijayabhaskar told reporters in Chennai yesterday, dengue preventive measures are being carried out jointly with anti-Covid activities.<br />'' <br />''Normally every year, during the onset of the North East Monsoon, the state used to see a growing number of dengue and chikungunya cases, but this year, he said the number is fifteen times less than last year.<br />'' <br />''Meanwhile, the state health department has mandated all private diagnostic laboratories to report cases of lung involvement to it as part of its Covid-control strategy. It has also warned the private labs not to conduct antigen-based Covid tests as it is less reliable compared to the RT-PCR method.<br />
