COVID-19 negative report not required to enter Puri Jagannath temple from Jan 21

In Odisha, the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration has waived the mandatory Covid-19 negative report for the devotees to enter the world-famous shrine at Puri. This will be effective from the 21st of January, as decided in a high level meeting of the temple administration today.
''
'' Ever since the last week of the last month when the doors of the Shri Jagannath temple where re-opened for the devotees, it was made conditional upon their covid-19 negative report. This led to a significant fall in the footfalls in the temple, besides causing difficulties for the general devotees. However today's decision to decouple covid negative report from the devotees visiting the deities, has brought in a big relief for lakhs of them. As of now, upto 30 thousand devotees will be allowed per day to enter the temple, of course with adherence to all covid-19 preventive protocols.
''
