<span style="color: #222222;">In the second day of the ongoing session of the Odisha assembly on Wednesday, covid-19 caused heated exchanges between the ruling and opposition lawmakers.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">While the opposition brought an adjournment motion over the mismanagement of covid-19 situation by the government, the government tabled the Epidemic Diseases (Odisha amendment) Bill 2020, seeking to enhance punishment for violators of covid-19 guidelines.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">AIR correspondent reports, Covid-19 triggered an uproar in the assembly on Wednesday, first through an adjournment notice and then over the passage of the epidemic amendment bill.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">While the Opposition BJP and Congress alleged severe mismanagement of covid-19 situation in the state including under-reporting of both case-count and death count by the state government, the latter defended it's good work stating the low covid-19 fatality rate of 0.38 per cent and high recovery rate of more than 80%. </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">During the debate over the bill, which seeks to slam a jail-term of two years and a fine upto Rs. 1 lakh on the covid-19 protocol violators, while the government argued it as a tool against community transmission of the virus,  the opposition alleged it as a weapon against itself to be misused by the government to settle political score.</span><br />
