The Special CBI court has fixed 10th of October as the next date of hearing for taking cognizance of the chargesheet filed against sacked President of Medical Council of India Ketan Desai and three others. The charge sheet had been filed in a CBI court in New Delhi against them for allegedly accepting a bribe of two crore rupees to grant recognition to a medical college in Punjab. Besides Desai, the other charge sheeted include alleged middleman Jitender Pal Singh, faculty member of Patiala-based Gyan Sagar Medical College Kamaljeet Singh, who is accused of having carried a cash of two crore rupees and a Vice Chairman of the medical college Sukhvinder Singh.Desai and three others were arrested by CBI on April 22nd last year for allegedly demanding a bribe of two crore rupees from the owners of a medical college in Patiala in return for grant of permission to start admission for 2010-11 despite not having proper infrastructure for the project.
