The Delhi High Court today sought a response from CBI on bail plea of Medical Council of India President Ketan Desai who was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of two crore rupees to grant recognition to a medical college in Punjab. <br/><br/>Justice S L Bhayana issued the notice to the investigating agency and asked it to file the response by June 3 when the matter would be taken up for further hearing. <br/><br/>Ketan Desai and three others were arrested by CBI on April 23 in connection with an alleged bribe of two crore rupees for permitting a medical college in Patiala to admit students despite lack of infrastructure.<br/><br/> Subsequent searches at various premises of Desai is alleged to have revealed huge amount of cash, investments and gold, all worth several crores of rupees.<br/><br/>The four accused were booked by CBI under Prevention of Corruption of Act, dealing with inducing a public servant to accept bribe, criminal misconduct and payment of money. Desai is currently in judicial custody.
