Court reserves judgement on CBI asking remand of Amit Shah

In Gujarat, a special CBI Court in Ahmedabad has reserved its judgment on the bail plea of former minister Amit Shah on 11-August. The court has also reserved the order on Shah's police remand by CBI till 4th August in connection with the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case. CBI today moved a court seeking five days police remand of Amit Shah. Senior Supreme Court lawyer K T S Tulsi, representing the investigating agency in the special CBI court of Judicial Magistrate A Y Dave, demanded five days remand of Shah giving reasons for it in a sealed cover. CBI counsel has also told the court that the agency is not seeking the transfer of the Sohrabuddin case from Gujarat. Senior Supreme Court lawyer Ram Jethmalani, who is representing Shah, has filed an application opposing CBI's request of police remand for Shah saying there is no ground for police remand. AIR Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that Amit Shah, a former Minister of State for Home and close aide of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, was arrested by CBI in connection with the fake encounter and charged with murder, extortion and kidnapping.
