In Kerala, the vigilance court of Thiruvananthapuram has ordered a probe to find out whether Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has any role in the controversial palmolein import case. The court while ordering further probe has rejected the report of the state vigilance department that there was no need for further probe on Chandy's role. The case pertains to import of 32,000 tonnes of palmolein in 1992 by the then Chief Minister late K Karunakaran. Oommen Chandy was the finance minister during the period. The special vigilance judge directed vigilance and anti corruption bureau to submit probe report within three months Meanwhile UDF Government has decided to seek legal opinion of the Advocate General in this regard.
