Court of enquiry into Mangalore air crash soon: Patel

Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel today said a court of enquiry into the Mangalore air crash likely to be notified very soon. <br/><br/>Speaking to reporters in New Delhi after addressing the first meeting of the newly constituted Civil Aviation advisory Council, Mr. Patel said Government is considering creating a dedicated mechanism to deal with all major accidents, including air crash.<br/> <br/>The minister said total autonomy will be given to the DGCA to further empower it as the aviation regulator of the country. He said government is considering establishing an independent safety board on the lines of the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).<br/><br/>The minister said government will do everything necessary to ensure an orderly growth of aviation in the country. <br/><br/>Mr. Patel said the meeting decided to set up four sub-groups — on operations, airports and air traffic control, maintenance and helicopters-related issues. He said the four sub-groups would come up with reports on enhancing safety in the respective areas within three weeks and submit them to CASAC.
