The resumed proceedings of the two Court martial against the former Sri Lankan Army Commander Retired General Sarath Fonseka were adjourned again for a later date. The two Courts Martial were held on Tuesday at the Navy Headquarters at Colombo.<br/><br/>The first Court Martial, presided by Major General H.L Weerathunga was to try General Fonseka on charges against his participation in political work while in active service after its maiden sittings on March 16th was adjourned until today. The sittings are to resume on 5th May 2010.<br/><br/>According to a lawyer of General Fonseka the proceedings of the first Court Martial has been postponed for next month following a Court of Appeal order.<br/><br/>Sources said that the Court of Appeal is expected to hear the case of the retired General Fonseka on 3rd of May 2010.<br/><br/>The second Court Martial, reconvened to hear charges, related to General Fonseka’s violation of military procurement procedures after its first sittings on 17th March 2010 also resumed today afternoon with the tribunal, presided by Major General M.P. Peiris. The second Court Martial continued its hearings till 5.00 p.m. today and was subsequently adjourned until April 9th 2010, a day after the Parliamentary election.<br/><br/>Two tribunals have been constituted to enquire into two separate set of charges against Sarath Fonseka. The first pertains to his alleged political activities while still in uniform and the second on the military purchases made by him allegedly in contravention of the set procedures.<br/>
