The Melur Judicial magistrate in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu on Monday issued non-bailable warrant against Durai Dayanidhi son of Union Minister M K Azhagiri in the illegal granite quarrying case.

The local police had filed a petition in Melur Judicial Magistrate V Jayakumar seeking non-bailable warrant against Durai Dayanidhi and nine others in this case.

Durai Dayanidhi had opposed the bail plea saying that he had filed an anticipatory bail at Chennai High Court.

Moreover, he said that the AIADMK government is victimizing him since he is the son of DMK’s Union Minister M K Azhagiri.

Madurai district Collector in his report had said that the exchequer had lost crores of rupees in illegal granite quarrying.

The police are in search of Durai Dayanidhi, PR Palanichamy and many others who were implicated in this case.
