A Delhi court today extended AAP MLA Somnath Bharti's police remand till October 4th in an alleged domestic violence and attempt to murder case lodged by his wife. Mr Bharti will now have to undergo custodial interrogation for 3 more days. <br/><br/>He was produced before the Metropolitan Magistrate on expiry of his two-day police remand and the investigators sought extension of his remand by 5 days saying the earlier time period was not sufficient. <br/><br/>The police also said that Bharti was required for further custodial interrogation as several points have to probed in the case and that he was also not cooperating with the probe. During the hearing, the former law minister alleged torture at the hands of the police.<br/><br/>Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court had denied interim bail to Somnath Bharti and sought the presence of his wife Lipika Mitra before it on Monday to explore the possibility of mediation in the case. <br/><br/>The Apex court, which said that Somnath Bharti's petition for anticipatory bail has become infructuous after his surrender, declined the oral plea of his counsel for grant of interim bail till October 5th. The AAP MLA was arrested in the wee hours on September 29th after the Supreme Court ordered him to give up in the case filed by his wife.
