Two persons, including a woman, have been sentenced by a court here to two years imprisonment in a corruption case for showing undue favour to private firms in telecast of programmes on Doordarshan during 1996-1999. <br/><br/>Special CBI Judge Sanjay Garg awarded the jail term to 60-year-old Chitra Pahari, wife of the then Deputy Director General of Doordarshan Kendra late M B Pahari, and Rajesh Gupta, Managing Director of Softline Media Ltd, under Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC for offence of criminal conspiracy.<br/><br/>The court held that during 1996 to 1999, Gupta submitted seven proposals through his different firms for approval. These proposals were dealt by Pahari in discharge of official duties and during the same period, Gupta paid 8 and a half lakh rupees by way of DD/pay order/cheque to various builders on behalf of Chitra. The court however allowed to suspend their sentence and granted them bail till December 11.
