Centre has said that the country's wheat production will surpass the last year's all-time high of 80.58 million tonne. Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar told newsmen in New Delhi yesterday that the wheat sowing has been progressing well. He said, the acreage and the crop condition indicate that production will be more than last year. On recent GoM meeting on food, Mr. Pawar said, wheat prices under the open market sale scheme, and also extending the deadline for sugar re-export obligations on the millers came under discussion. He, however, declined to share the outcome of the meeting on these issues.
