Country's oil companies are fully prepared to meet future demand of petrol and diesel: Centre

The Centre has said the country's oil companies are fully prepared to meet the future demand for petrol, diesel and other petroleum products. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli said the present refining capacity of Indian oil companies is over 249 million metric tonnes per annum, the demand for domestic consumption stands at 214 million metric tonnes. He said the excess refining capacity leaves some surplus for export of petroleum products.<br />''<br />''<br />
