Country's coastal area secured against any terrorist infiltration: Govt in LS

The government informed the Lok Sabha today that the entire coastal area of the country has been secured against any terrorist infiltration. Answering a question Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said a three-tier security ring has been put in place by the State Marine Police, Indian Coast Guard and the Navy. <br/><br/>The Indian Navy patrols along the International Maritime Boundary Line and the Coast Guard has been mandated to keep surveillance in India's Exclusive Economic Zone extending up to 200 nautical miles. The State Marine Police patrols the shallow coastal areas.<br/><br/> In addition, there are 45 radar stations and 74 automatic identification stations to stop terrorist infiltration. Registration of sea-going vessels and identification of persons on board have been made compulsory, Mr. Rijiju said.
