Union Minister for Communications and Information and Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad today said the Centre acknowledges the importance and role of Media and Entertainment Industry and believes in fulfilling the dream of digitally connected India. For this the government would come-up with policy decisions for bettering the sector and also make necessary financial clearances. <br/><br/>He was speaking at the inauguration of three-day FICCI Frames Conference with theme 'Change or Perish-The year of digital' in Mumbai. On this occasion the minister along with Mr. Uday Shankar, chairman FICCI Media and Entertainment committee and CEO Star India and Mr. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman Reliance Industries released the FICCI-KPMG 2015 report.<br/><br/> Mr. Prasad said the country will step up to Rs. One Trillion ( One lakh crore) economy of digital India in coming five years. He added since there are more Tier2 and Tier3 cities in the country, e-commerce is most thriving business in these parts and thence opens more possibilities of creativity. For this funding will be demonetized. He added that the Centre understands that internet is inevitable in today's world it has a global place. <br/><br/>But this should be abused in by few for spreading terror activities. He also announced that to facilitate film shooting in the country, a Film Facilitation Centre will be opened in collaboration with the NFDC. The Minister further suggested that since Indian content has global reach, we should concentrate on quality content. The television rankings (TRPs) must be more fair and reasonable and only real content drives the quality.
