Country receives three percent more rainfall so far this season

The country has received three percent more rainfall so far this season. According to the Met department, fairly widespread rain occured over all parts of the country during the week. The southwest monsoon is likely to remain active over central, eastern and north western parts of the country. Northern India is also likely to receive rain and thundershowers all through the week. The weartherman says, monsoon normally starts withdrawing from western parts of Rajasthan around 1st of September but so far there are no signs of withdrawal of the rainfall activity. National Capital Delhi and near by areas have also received heavy rainfall in the last couple of days. After a heavy downpour on Friday, Delhites on Saturday woke up to an overcast sky. The mercury dropped several notches below normal with the maximum settling at 28.7 degree celsius, five degrees below average. The city is likely to experience one or two spells of rain and thundershowers today with the mercury likely to be between 30 and 25 degrees.
