The country has received one per cent excess rainfall from 1st to 23rd of this month. During the period, the country as a whole received 111.8 millimeters rainfall as against the normal of 110.8 millimeters. <br/><br/>According to region-wise data provided by India Meteorological Department, Northwest India recorded 41 per cent excess rainfall than the normal rainfall of 41.2 millimeters. South Peninsula has also registered 5 per cent more rainfall than the normal rainfall of 114.3 millimeters. <br/><br/>However, the rainfall in East and Northeast is 9 per cent deficient where the actual rainfall is 233.8 millimeters against normal of 255.8 millimeters. The Central India has received 98.2 millimeters rainfall which is 5 per cent deficient than the normal.<br/><br/>The IMD also added that the favourable conditions are developing for further advancement of southwest monsoon into some more parts of north Arabian Sea and South Gujarat during next 48 hours. Favourable conditions are also likely to develop for advancement of monsoon in remaining parts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
