President Ram Nath Kovind has said, the country is progressing in the field of food processing with increase in production of milk, fruits and vegetables. <br/><br/>Mr Kovind was addressing the convocation at National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurial and Management (NIFTM) in Sonipat on Saturday.<br/><br/>He said that the institutes like NIFTM have played an important role for the development of the food processing sector giving skill and technology to save the wastages of farmers produce like vegetables, fruits and milk. <br/><br/>He said, the NIFTM can play a pivotal role in the world in the field of food processing technology and management.<br/><br/>The President also called upon the passing out students to work for nation building by using their skills and experience for the welfare of farmers. <br/><br/>Mr Kovind said, the degree holders should not go for jobs in companies only but also take advantage of schemes like "startup" linking farmers with them.<br/> <br/>The President presented degrees to 594 students and gold medals to 20 students in the convocation.<br/><br/>Speaking on this occasion Haryana Governor Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki said that NIFTM is supporting programmes like Make in India and Startup.<br/><br/>Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that the ministry has taken new progmmes in a planned manner to develop food processing sector and 14 billion dollar MoUs have been signed for the development of the sector.
