Country passing through massive transformation towards development: Venkaiah Naidu

Union Urban Development Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister Venkaiah Naidu has said that country is passing through massive transformation towards the development.<br/><br/>Addressing the Seminar on – Smart and Livable Cities- Opportunities and challenges ahead- at Vibrant Gujarat 2017 in Gandhinagar, Mr. Naidu said that the Government has planned 100 smart cities and 500 AMRUT- Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation cities along with Heritage cities to provide smart and good living conditions in the urban areas. Mr. Naidu said that cities are growth engines of the country as 65 percent of our GDP comes from the cities.<br/><br/>Referring to the temporary slowdown in economy, Mr. Naidu said that the country will move on development highway very soon. Terming Metro- as the need of urban people, Mr. Naidu said that following the model of Special Purpose Vehicle- SPV for smooth flow of fund. He emphasized on vehicle-free zones like Connaught place and Cycle track in each of 100 smart cities in the country. <br/><br/>He said that Ahmedabad Metro project will be completed by March 2018 while Vadodara is in process to forge Special Purpose Vehicle. He said that Central Government has released over 800 crore rupees so far for Ahmedabad Metro project.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that 9 Memorandums of Understanding- MOUs have been signed for the investment in Municipal and other urban areas of Gujarat. MOUs have been signed in the presence of Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu.<br/><br/>Mr Venkaiah Naidu has said, Congress and other opposition parties are very depressed due to growing popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was replying to the media query about judicial inquiry demanded by Congress party leader Mallikarjun Khadge- on the issue of demonetization. Mr. Naidu said that entire country has accepted the demonetization decision.
