Country experiences unseasonal rain; Rajasthan receives heavy rainfall

The country has been experiencing unseasonal heavy rainfall in many parts. The pleasant weather prevailing over most parts of North and North western regions the country is due to the Cyclone Phet. According to the MET department the maximum temperature would fall by 2-3 degree Celsius in these areas during next 24 Hours and increase thereafter. We spoke to R C Vashist of the Indian Met Department on the unusual weather conditions.<br/><br/> In the National Capital, overnight rains brought down the minimum temperature to a cool 22.1 degree Celsius today. There were light showers in some parts of the city during morning hours. Today's minimum was six degrees below normal and the lowest in the month for the past three years.<br/><br/> Heavy rains lashed parts of Haryana and Punjab since last night leading to a sharp fall in mercury. While the maximum in Chandigarh yesterday had dropped to 30 degrees Celsius, the minimum today came down to 19.4 deg C. The minimum temperatures in Punjab and Haryana also dropped considerably today and settled in the range of 17 degrees Celsius to 21 degrees Celsius. Jaisalmer in Rajasthan has been put on high alert after heavy rains lashed the city. Other parts of the state also experienced heavy rainfall with Bikaner recording 77 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hrs. Meanwhile Phet cyclone has passed from Rajasthan and entered Haryana.<br/><br/> <br/>
