Country expects to have record foodgrain production in 2016-17 crop year. Addressing a National Conference on Agriculture for Rabi Campaign 2016 in New Delhi, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said, government has taken several measures to improve farm productivity and farmers income during the last two years. He said, his Ministry is working to realize Prime Ministers promise to double the income of the farmers and make farming a remunerative profession. <br/><br/>Mr Singh stressed on need for application of technology in the farming to increase farm productivity. During the two day conference, progress of important schemes related to Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare announced by the Centre in the last two years will be deliberated upon. <br/><br/>The Conference is being attended by the Secretaries of Ministry of Agriculture, State Agriculture Secretaries and other senior officials dealing with horticulture, post-harvest management and agricultural marketing.
