Country celebrates Easter today

Easter, marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is being celebrated throughout the world today with gaiety and enthusiasm. In the North-east, the believers attended Easter services in the Churches of different denominations in the region. In Nagaland while the faithful attended services in the Churches, people celebrated Easter by sharing love and goodwill and exchanged gifts and greetings on this auspicious day. Governor Nikhil Kumar greeted the people on the occasion of Easter. In a message he wished the people peace, progress and prosperity.

AIR correspondent reports, signifying the resurrection of Christ, Nagaland celebrated Easter with various religious programmes being organized throughout the day.

As it is believed that Jesus Christ rose from the dead at sunrise on the third day after he was crucified, the centuries-old tradition of holding sunrise services in churches continues across Nagaland.

In the State capital Kohima, the celebration began at the crack of dawn, when hundreds of believers of all ages converged at the historic World War II Kohima Cemetery braving the morning rains, to proclaim the message of the risen Lord.

Special worship services were held in all the churches across the State. Message of hope and eternal life through the resurrection were the main theme of the teachings from the Holy Scriptures.

Meanwhile, as a culmination of the holy day, most churches hold special services wherein re-enactment of the story of the life of Jesus, from his death to the resurrection is unfolded and message of love and hope disseminated. Also, in some places bonfire function and Candle lit services are still continuing representing the light of Christ. The service will end with thanksgiving prayer and Easter feast.

SPICE- PARK

The government will set up 10 spice parks across the most strategic locations in the country by the end of this year to promote export of spices. Spice Board of India, the nodal organization of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has taken a decsion to this effect. The Board has earmarked an investment of 167 crore rupees in these spices parks. Out of which, 75 crore rupees have already been invested in three such parks in Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh, Puttady in Kerela and Jodhpur in Rajasthan. Spice parks consists of units like processing, packaging and certification. The other parks will be completed during the year in states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Kota in Rajasthan. The Board has completed the construction of Spice Park in Rampura Bhatia Village of Ozian Tehsil near Jodhpur in Rajasthan. The park has common infrastructure and processing facilities for the seed spices especially cumin and coriander.
