In Uttar Pradesh counting of votes for 12 Municipal Corporations, 186 Nagar Palika Parishads and 388 Nagar Panchayats from 71 districts is going on amid tight security at district and Tehsil headquarters. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for peaceful counting at all counting centers. The State Election Commission has banned victory processions by the winner candidates.AIR Allahabad Correspondent reports that in most of the Municipal Corporations, BJP candidates are leading for mayoral posts. At Allahabad, BSP supported candidate and in Varanasi Congress nominee are leading against their nearest BJP rivals. Some results for ward members have been declared in the Municipal Corporations and BJP and independent candidates have won most of them. Political fate of 65474 candidates including 24405 women will be decided in today`s counting of votes. Polling was held in four phases on June 24 and 27 and July 1 and 4 with moderate turnout of voters. A total of 136 candidates including 3 chairmen of Nagar Palika Parishad and Nagar Panchayats have been already declared elected unopposed. Elections in remaining four districts of Mathura, Kannauj, Ramabai Nagar and Auriya are underway. Polling in Matura district will be held on July 19 while in other three districts it will be held one day earlier July 18.
