In Punjab counting of votes will begin from 8 a.m. at 56 counting centres for 117 constituencies of the state for which polling was conducted on 30th January. According to the Chief Electoral Officer results are expected to be declared by noon. For the smooth conduct of counting four to five counting tables will be there in each counting centre and arrangements have been made to videograph the counting process.
General Observers and Micro Observers have been deployed at the counting centres. About 2000 para military personnel and same number of polling station will remain on duty during counting. In this election more than 78 per cent voters of the state exercised their righ to franchise to elect 117 members amongst 1078 candidates including 93 women.
