Counting of votes for Maha, Haryana Assembly elections to be taken up today amid tight security

Counting of votes for Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana will be taken up today amidst tight security. While in Maharashtra, counting will take place at 269 places, in Haryana it will be carried out at 90 Centres in 57 places.

In Maharashtra, 4,119 candidates including 276 women, were in the fray for 288 Assembly seats, it was 1,351 candidates for 90 member Haryana Assembly.

The Counting of votes for Beed Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra and Kandhamal Parliamentary constituency in Odisha will also be taken up today. Counting for bypolls to Rajkot (West) Assembly seat in Gujarat, Northern Angami-Two Assembly seats in Nagaland and Kanubari Assembly constituency in Arunachal Pradesh will also be carried out today.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made in and around the counting centres to ensure peaceful counting. In Maharashtra, 320 companies of central Para military forces have been deployed in addition to state police and security forces from other states. CCTV cameras have been installed at all counting centres. Observers and micro observers have also been deployed at each counting centre.
