In Nepal counting of votes for the first phase of local elections is continue in 3 provinces. Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has won 5 posts of Mayor/Chairperson, Nepali Congress 4 and Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) has got one. <br/><br/>For Deputy Mayor/Vice Chairperson posts, Communist Party of Nepal (UML) won 3, Nepali Congress 4 and Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) won at one place.Two Independent candidates have also been elected for Mayor/Chairperson and Deputy Mayor/Vice Chairperson post.Local elections were held on Sunday after a gap of 20 years. <br/><br/>73 percent voters exercised their franchise in 34 districts of 3 provinces. Voting was held in 281 local bodies out of 283. Representatives for two local bodies have been elected unopposed. Polling in remaining 4 provinces will be held in second phase on June 14.
