Counting of votes begins in J&K, Jharkhand

Counting of votes for Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand Assembly constituencies has begun. In Jharkhand, initial trends indicate that BJP is leading in two constituencies, Congress one and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) one constituency. BJP is leading in Ichagarh and Ranchi, Congress in Lhardaga while JVM candidate and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi is leading in Dhanwar Constituency.

In Jammu and Kashmir, trends are available from two constutuencies. BJP is leading in Ram Nagar and Cogress in Chhamb constutuency .
The counting began under tight security in both states. In Jammu and Kashmir, counting for all the 87 constituencies has been taken up at 22 district headquarters across the state. At many places prohibitory orders have been imposed under Section 144 Cr PC in and outside the counting premises to maintain law and order.

AIR correspondent reports that political fate of 831 candidates including 28 women will be decided in today's counting.
In Jharkhand, counting is being held at 24 centres for all the 81 constituencies.

About 4000 trained personnel have been deputed for the purpose. Ten to 31 rounds are expected to be made to complete the counting of over 1 crore 38 lakh 51 thousand votes. Our correspondent reports that the political fate of 208 candidates, including 16 women will be decided today.
