In Tamilnadu, all arrangements are in place for the counting of results in the local body elections held on Oct 17th and 19th. Elections were held for the posts of Mayor, Councillors, Panchayat Chairmen and ward members.

The State Election commission has made all arrangements to videograph the entire counting process at all centres Advisory has been issued to produce the recordings in CD format to the State election Commission. The Commission has also warned of strict action against those who indulge in malpractices.

In the first phase of polling 75 percent of votes were polled during the first phase and more than 80 percent votes were recorded in the second phase. Polling was by and large peaceful.
