Counting of votes for Assembly elections in Maharashtra, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh will begin at 8 AM on Thursday amid tight security.<br/><br/>In Maharashtra, the counting will be held at 288 centres. It will decide the fate of 3,536 candidates. Over 1.29 lakh state police and central para-military personnel have been deployed to ensure peaceful counting of votes. Director General of Police in-charge of elections, A N Roy, said that adequate number of Central Para Military Forces have been deployed, mainly in naxal-infested districts like Gadchiroli, to assist the police. Mumbai police have also made elaborate arrangements for trouble-free counting in the megapolis.<br/><br/>In Haryana, Counting will be held at 90 centres for an equal number of seats. Adequate Central Security Forces have been deployed to ensure smooth conduct of counting. A total of 1,222 candidates are in the fray.<br/><br/>In Arunachal Pradesh, the fate of 154 candidates in 57 assembly constituencies will be decided today. Three Congress candidates including Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu have already been elected unopposed. Counting of votes would be taken up simultaneously at the headquarters of all 16 districts in the state, besides one at an additional district headquarters.<br/><br/>The News Services Division of All India Radio will broadcast a special live bilingual programme in Hindi and English on Thursday from 0830 am to 2 pm on the counting of votes for Assembly elections.
