Counter terrorism and regional cooperation figure prominently in discussions between India and Tajikistan in Dushanbe

India and Tajikistan have agreed to strengthen bilateral relation further in the energy sector , IT, Health, Education and establishment of small and micro industries.

The two sides discussed cooperation on issues of security and ways to counter cross border terrorism in a delegation level talks between the Vice President of India, Mohd. Hamid Ansari and President of Tajikistan.

The two sides also discussed regional security issues and exchange views on how to cooperate in maintaining regional peace and security.

The two sides agreed that nations in the region as well as the international community should strengthen Afghanistan's capacity to maintain peace, stability and prosperity of the Afghan people.

Counter terrorism, cooperation in energy and other strategic areas figured prominently in the delegation level talks in Dushanbe between the visiting Vice President, Mohd. Hamid Ansari and Tajik President.

The Vice President is on a four-day goodwill visit to Tajikistan. He is the first Indian Vice-President to ever come to the Central Asian country.

AIR correspondent adds Ansari's visit is a part of India's connect Central Asia policy, unveiled last year, aimed at greater political, economic and people-to-people engagement with Central Asian nations like Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
