Countdown progressing smoothly for ISRO's launch of six Singapore satellites

The countdown for India's workhorse launch vehicle PSLV C-29, which is set to place Singapore's first earth observation satellite TeLEOS-1 and five other co-passenger payloads in near earth orbits along the equator, is progressing smoothly. The Indian Space Research Organization, ISRO sources say, the filling up of the fourth stage of the rocket with fuels has been completed and other works are going on as per the plan.

This is the sixth exclusive commercial launch for the Indian space agency from its launch pads at Sriharikotta. The launch is scheduled to take place at 6 pm tomorrow. As the total payload weight is 600 kg, which is much less than the capacity of the rocket, it has been configured in its 'core-alone' mode, without the strap-on motors. Except TeLEOS-1, the other five payloads are micro and nano-satellites developed by two Universities of Singapore.
