Countdown for placing in orbit an exclusive communication satellite begins

The countdown for the launch of GSLV F-06 will start at 10 am this morning. GSLV will lift off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota at 4 pm tommorow and would place into orbit a communication satellite GSAT-5 P. ISRO spokesperson S. Satish told our Chennai correspondent that 2310 kg GSAT-5 P is an exclusive communication satellite and will carry 24 C band and 12 extended C band transponders is intended to further augment the services currently provided by the Indian Satellite System (INSAT). The Russian cryogenic stage used in the GSLV F -06 is an upgraded version vehicle which is more powerful than those used in the previous six GSLV missions. The successful launch will be useful in telecasting television programmes, including those related to telemedicine and tele-education and in boosting telephonic services.
