In Uttarakhand, the countdown has begun for the counting of votes for 70 assembly seats which is scheduled on Tuesday. About 68 per cent voters have exercised their franchise in single phase polling which held in the state on last 30 January. There are 788 candidates in the fray. AIR correspondents reports that all arrangements have been put in place for counting of votes.According to joint chief election officer, Saujanya, counting of votes would be held at 16 counting centres across the states from 8 in the morning. Around 4,920 counting personnel would be directly involved in the counting process in the state. Counting would first begin from the postal ballots. Election Commission has appointed 36 observers to ensure free and fair counting in the state. Since Electronic Machines were used in the polling, first trend will be available in the forenoon itself and by noon the final picture is expected to emerge.
