Union Textiles Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar today assured that this cotton procurement season, the farmers will get competitive prices in various market yards across the country and the prices per quintal will be decided after studying the international markets. <br/><br/>The Union Minister today inaugurated the 74th Plenary of International Cotton Advisory Committee in Mumbai. Gangwar further said last year China made a major change in its Cotton policy which had an adverse effect on the export of our cotton bales and yarns. Despite this sudden glitch, India was able to procure bales worth Rs. 17,500 crore. He added that this year would be a studied procurement of cotton would be done.<br/><br/>This year, the theme for Mumbai Plenary of the International Cotton Advisory Committee is 'From Farm to Fabric : Many faces of the cotton'. After a gap of 11 years, India is hosting the 5-day International Cotton Advisory Committee Plenary Meeting in Mumbai. The Plenary has been organized by the Office of the Textiles Commissioner, Mumbai along with Cotton Corporation of India, Cotton Association of India and the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry.
