Corruption, red tapism major stumbling block to nation building : Antony

Defence Minister A K Antony has said that corruption and red tapism is a major stumbling block to nation building and because of corruption many of the development schemes do not reach people. He was launching Kerala government's poverty free scheme providing rice for one rupee per kilogram to BPL families at Thiruvananthapuram. Mr Antony pointed out that even if India is an emerging global economic power, domestically the gulf between the rich and poor is widening and it is a matter of serious concern.Inaugurating the programme that ensures 25 kilogram of rice at one rupee every month to BPL families, Defence Minister said that it is highly unfortunate that people are forced to give bribe for government services. People demonstrate their resentment on deficiency in service, Mr Antony added. He assured that the food security act of the Centre will be passed in parliament this year itself. 21 lakh BPL families, andyodaya annayojana beneficiaries and inmates of government approved orphanages will get benefit of one rupee rice scheme of Kerala. It will be extended to 32 lakh families by next year.
