Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said a corruption free development system is the priority of the government. Addressing the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in New Delhi today, Mr Modi said, in 2014, people voted for a permanent and irreversible change in the system which has laid a strong foundation for the development of the country. He said, the older system did not do justice to the country's potential. <br/><br/>The Prime Minister said that Centre is committed to crack down on corruption and he might have to pay a political price for the path he has taken but he is ready for it. Speaking on the theme of the summit, Mr Modi said, the irreversible rise of India reflects the confidence of the citizens. He said, the country has moved forward due to the efforts of every citizens. The Prime Minister mentioned how opening a bank account empowers the poor citizen and how Ujjwala yojana has changed the lives of women. <br/><br/>He also outlined other initiatives of the government. Mr Modi said, the poor now have access to health and life insurance at a minimal cost. He said, the demand for organic farming and organic products are on the rise and like Sikkim more states are going to convert to 100 per cent organic farming. He said, post demonetization, there is a behavioral change among citizens and it has also brought large parts of the underground economy into the formal system. He said, government is cracking down on shell companies after demonetization and is taking action against corrupt individuals. He said, GST has brought in transparency into the system and Aadhaar has brought in an irreversible change.<br/>Mr Modi further said, India has a global recognition and its impact on the international scenario has increased. He said, several countries want to walk along with India. He requested the media to inform people about Swachh Bharat abhiyan and other initiatives and help the government giving new direction to the country.
