Jammu and Kashmir Government is contemplating to create Corpus Fund aimed at integrated development of senior citizens of the State. This was revealed by J&K Social Welfare Minister Ms Sakina Itoo while chairing first ever meeting of State Level Advisory Council. She said that the whole concept of Corpus Find emerged following increase in elderly population in the State, which she said has given rise to several societal problems hitherto unknown. The Minister informed that a committee is being constituted to work out ways and means and other modalities for the Fund. She further stated that government would activate Women Advisory Board to catalyze formulation and execution of women specific programmes. Ms. I too said that although Womens’ Commission is already functioning in the State to safeguard interests of ladies, yet there is need to enhance its vigor and widen its ambit of activities.
