Coronavirus: Hong Kong Airlines lay off 400 staff, asks remaining staff to take unpaid leave

<span style="color: #222222;">Hong Kong Airlines today decided to lay off 400 staff as the coronavirus outbreak compounding problems in the former British colony. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">In a statement, the airlines said, they have also asked the remaining staff to take unpaid leave. It said that strict entry and quarantine measures imposed by countries around the world have impacted travel demand in the city and the firm had to take vigorous measures to mitigate the challenges.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> <br />'' Earlier, the city's premier carrier Cathay Pacific also asked all its 27,000 workforces to take three weeks to leave without salary between March and June because of the virus.</span><br />'' <br />''
