Corona Effect : SriLanka advises its citizens against pilgrimage tours to Buddhist sites in India

<span style="color: #222222;">Srilankan government has advised against pilgrimage tours to Buddhist sites in India while Srilankans returning from abroad have been advised to stay in their homes for two weeks amid growing fears of COVID 19.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Secretary of Budhasasana Ministry Bandula Harischandra said as over 90 percent of pilgrims going for pilgrimage tours are elderly people, traveling in this situation is considered risky. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Places like BodhGaya and Sarnath are popular among Srilankan tourists and thousands visit every year to these places. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, air passengers arriving in Sri Lanka from countries other than Italy, South Korea and Iran have been requested to remain in their homes for 14 days. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Passengers from these three countries are being put up for mandatory quarantine period. Director-General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said, the general public is advised to minimize foreign travel as much as possible. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The measures come even as there is no confirmed case of COVID 19 in Srilanka at present but some suspected cases are under treatment.</span><br />''
