'Core values of India's civilisation can't be forgotten, says President

President Pranab Mukherjee has said that core values of India's civilisation cannot be forgotten. Speaking at a book release function in New Delhi today, Mr Mukherjee said, diversity, tolerance and plurality are the core of Indian values and they must be kept in mind.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, the President's remarks assumes significance on the backdrop of lynching of a person for allegedly consuming beef in Dadri in Uttar Pradesh.<br/><br/>At another function in New Delhi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said strongest possible action will be taken against those who try to disrupt communal harmony in the country. Mr Singh said the lynching of person was an unfortunate incident.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the Union Home Secretary has submitted the UP government's report on Dadri murder to the Prime Minister's Office, PMO. He also updated the PMO on the current law-and-order situation in the area. <br/><br/>The situation continues to remain volatile in Bishada village near Dadri in Greater Noida. VHP leader Sadhvi Prachi tried to enter Bishada village on Wednesday but was detained by the police. Expressing her anger she said the government is biased as people were allowed to go there yesterday. She said people are being booked under false cases and she will try to go again.
