Convoys carrying humanitarian aid to besieged city of Aleppo in Syria held up

In Syria, convoys carrying humanitarian aid to the besieged city of Aleppo have been held up for yet another day, as fighting between Syrian forces and rebel fighters outside Damascus raised concerns about the longevity of a fragile ceasefire. The clashes Friday were described as some of the most serious since the truce deal came into effect on Monday, with both the government and rebels accusing each other of breaching the US-Russia brokered ceasefire.<br/><br/>The United Nations has expressed frustration over stalling by the Syrian government to grant permits to allow aid into Aleppo. Aid for Aleppo, however, has been stuck on the Turkish border for five days now, where about 300,000 people are living under siege.<br/>In a phone call to his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov Friday, US Secretary of State John Kerry condemned repeated and unacceptable delays of humanitarian aid.
