The Centre has informed the Supreme Court that it has no plan to execute the 1993 Delhi bomb blast convict Devender Pal Singh Bhular given his precarious mental health.
The Attorney General GE Vahanvati also sought two weeks time to place the mercy papers regarding the Bhullar case to the President.
The Attorney General was presenting Delhi Lt. Governor's favourable recommendation on a mercy plea filed by Bhullar's wife before the appex court.
A bench headed by Chief Justice P. Sathasivam granted two weeks' time to the Centre and told the Counsel of Bhullar's wife KTS Tulsi to be optimistic about the outcome.
The Attorney General said he will apprise the Apex court about the developments on the mercy plea on March 10. Bhullar was convicted and awarded death penalty in Delhi Blast case which killed nine persons and injured 25 others including then Youth Congress President MS Bitta.
