Converged communication system to be installed at 230 railway stations in South Western Railway Zone

<span style="color: #222222;">A converged communication system designed and developed by RailTel Corporation of India Limited will be installed at 230 railway stations in South Western Railway Zone at a cost of over 107 crore rupees. <br />''<br />''This state of the art Internet Protocol telecom infrastructure aimed at enhancing the safety and efficiency of train operations will meet all the current and future connectivity requirements of the Railways. This will replace the aging Time Division Multiplexing-based systems. The new system based on Internet Protocol will support voice calling, voicemail, video calling, video conferencing, faxing and instant messaging. This will give shape to Train Control Communication Systems and Video Surveillance System for passenger and cargo services. The project is slated to be completed within 12 months. RailTel is a Mini Ratna Central Government PSU under the Ministry of Railways.</span><br />
