Intermittent showers of rain continuously lashing the Mumbai and suburbs since last two days. Normal life in the city has not been affected as there is no water logging. Meanwhile, after three days of continuous rain in the catchments areas, lakes levels that supplies water to Mumbai city have risen considerably, with two already overflowing. On Tuesday morning, Modak Sagar dam in Thane district, one of the larger lakes, and Tulsi Lake in Mumbai, which is one of the smallest of the six water bodies, started overflowing. Last year, in the wake of poor monsoon, has been reeling under water cuts for many months. Officials are hoping to avoid the situation this year. The good news is that a few other lakes are also expected to overflow in the first week of August if the steady rainfall continues in the catchments areas.
