President Pranab Mukherjee has said that contemporary art is one of the most significant ways of expressing thoughts, emotions, concerns and ideas that are current and relevant. Inaugurating the Kochi-Muziris Biennale seminar on 'Importance of Sustainable Cultural Building' at Kochi today, he said it is an integral part of the cultural calendar of the country. Mr Mukherjee said, it has rejuvenated Kerala's long standing contribution to visual arts and culture and cemented Kochi's status as a cosmopolitan city brimming with potential and ideas. He further said that the resounding success of biennale can be gauged from the fact that it has, so far, attracted more than a million visitors. <br/>'<br/>Later, while delivering the 6 th K S Rajamani memorial lecture on 'India at 70', the President said, in the last decade, the country's growth rate averaged around 8% making it the fastest growing large economy of the world. He said, today, India not only produces enough food grains to feed its citizens, but also exports the same. He said India has transformed from a poor underdeveloped nation into the third largest economy in PPP terms within a short span of seven decades.<br/><br/><br/>
