In Haryana, the number of people who fell ill after consuming food items made of contaminated buckwheat (kuttu) flour has increased further to around 60. In Faridabad district 3 people, Ambala 10 people and at Rohtak 10 number of people are reported to be seriously ill.In Yamunangar district the number of such patients has risen to 12. The Rohtak Chief Medical Officer said that the buckflour consumed by the patients might be having intoxicants and fungus, which generally develop in the old flour. According to administration the samples of the flour are being examined and people are advised to not use buckflour rather use fruit, potatoes etc during their fast in the Navratras.Meanwhile, the Haryana Government has directed all District Food Security Officers to take samples of Kuttu flour and other eatable items taken during the Navratras for testing in the laboratories to check contamination. Food and Aushad administrator, Commissioner P K Das said that till now 32 samples of Kuttu flour have been taken and it would continue till the end of the Navratras. It is to be noted, around 90 people were reported to fell ill after consuming food items made of contaminated Kuttu flour.
