The company operating the stricken Japanese nuclear power station says it could take until the end of this year to contain the crisis at the plant. The firm TEPCO says it aims to reduce the escape of radiation from the Fukushima site over the next three months. At a news conference in Tokyo, TEPCO's chairman said over the next three months the company hopes to steadily reduce the amount of radiation being released. He said the aim was to bring the reactors to a cold shot down within six to nine months.
