In Kerala, container movement to and from the Cochin Port has been hit, following an indefinite strike launched by container truck workers since Monday midnight. The Co-ordination Committee of Trade Unions, an umbrella organisation comprising ten trade unions which is spearheading the strike, is demanding revision of wages of container truck workers among other things. Talks held on Monday night in the presence of the Ernakulam District Collector to avert the strike failed to make any headway. Nearly 2000 trucks are engaged in the transportation of containers to Cochin Port.
