Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri told the Lok Sabha, the consumption of energy in India, including petrol and diesel, has gone back to the levels in the pre-Covid times. Answering questions, he said, in the first three quarters of the current financial year, crude worth more than one lakh, thirty one thousand crore rupees has been imported. He said there is no shortage in the supply of crude or natural gas in the international or domestic market after the Covid-19 pandemic. He added that the import of crude oil by the end of this financial year is expected to be 85.1 percent of the total consumption.<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; <br />''When asked about reducing the import dependency in the energy sector, Mr Hardeep Singh Puri said, the Government constituted a committee to study it. He said the committee has prepared a roadmap on reducing imports by 10 percent this year. He said the recommendations include increasing the domestic production of oil and gas and promoting energy efficiency and conservation efforts.</span><br />
